Gilles Boeuf is Professor Emeritus at Sorbonne University (assigned to the Arago Laboratory in Banyuls-sur-mer) and consultant professor at AgroParisTech. He spent 20 years at IFREMER in Brest. He was President of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) in Paris for 7 years between 2009 and 2015. He is an oceanographer, specialiste of environmental physiology and biodiversity. He was elected Visiting Professor at the Collège de France in 2013-2014 in the "Sustainable development, environment, energy and society" chair. He has chaired the Scientific Councils of IFREMER, CIRAD and MNHN. For two years he was scientific advisor for COP21 in the office of Ségolène Royal, then Minister for the Environment, Energy and the Sea. He was a member of the Conseil National de la Recherche Scientifique for 9 years. He was Chairman of the Scientific Council of the French Biodiversity Agency for 3 years. He was a member of the Management Board of the Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises (TAAF) and a member of the Comité de Perfectionnement du Centre Scientifique de Monaco. He was a member of the Bureau of the United Nations' International Platform for Biodiversity and Ecological Services (IPBES) for 5 years. Since 2009, he has been President of the Massane Forest natural reserve in the Pyrénées Orientales, which was recently classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. He is currently Chairman of CEEBIOS (Centre d'étude et d'expertise pour l'étude du Bio-mimétisme et la Bio-inspiration) and of the Ethic Ocean Association, which promotes sustainable consumption of seafood. In 2012, he was awarded the Albert 1st of Monaco Grand Medal for his entire career dedicated to the seas and oceans. He teaches at universities and the Grandes Ecoles, ENM, Ecole des Mines, Centrale Supélec, ENSTA, Sciences Po Paris, HEC, Kedge, etc. He is an elected Regional Councillor in New Aquitaine, in charge of the One Health programme.
